UK Aerial Sunday, Sunday 29th July 2001 An opportunity for aerialists at The Circus Space to hang around and perform to each other. The Circus Space is honored to have been appointed to recruit and train one hundred students who were employed to perform in the biggest show in the world in the Millennium Dome in the year 2000. Rita van Opzeeland is coming over in August to teach Swinging Trapeze, Cloudswing, Flying and Cradle. Details will be available from reception in July. Our regular flying trapeze and Corde Lisse classes are currently full - call for cancellations. We also offer the only BA (Hons) Circus Arts degree in the UK. The emphasis is on supporting each Artistes' unique development, as an individual. The professional full-time training program is flexible in duration and personally tailored. Tuition is usually delivered in groups of 4, shared with 1 other person, or even 1 to 1. It is a fast-track opportunity for performers to achieve a good standard of physical performance skills precisely relevant to the acts or shows they are hoping to create. The training programmers are lead by the school's Director Jacqueline Welbourne, formerly the UK's top International award-winning aerial acrobat who won major prizes at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, also at the Festival International du Cirque de Monte-Carlo; and performed her aerial act all around the world including starring with the world famous Cirque du Soleil. These days she is often invited as a judge at international festivals. Circus Maniacs also runs recreational training for children 3+ years and adults which encompasses weekly classes, tasters, short courses, summers schools, private classes; as well as teambuilding, parties & outreach workshops. A full and broad-based curriculum with a comprehensive awards scheme is offered spanning: Acrobatics, Juggling & Manipulation, Equilibristics, Trapeze & Aerial Acrobatics. There is also an International Award winning (UK-based) Youth Circus Company for young people aged 10 to 26.
